Simon Upgrades to Kverneland iXtrack T6 Field Sprayer – Again

After five successful years with a Kverneland iXtrack T6 field sprayer equipped with a 7,600-litre tank and 36-metre boom, Simon Bækgaard Christensen has decided to invest in the same model once more. This time, however, he is upgrading with a hydraulically driven pump and iXflow Pulse pulsating nozzles, ensuring even greater precision and efficiency.

Large-Scale Farming in Central Jutland

Simon owns and operates SBC Agro near Ikast, Denmark, cultivating 750 hectares of potatoes, seed grass, white clover, and grain, alongside roughage production for a local cattle farm. In addition, he manages around 150 hectares in cooperation with a neighbouring farmer.

“We have been very happy with our current sprayer, which has iXflow E single nozzle opening, where the nozzles open and close individually using GPS-controlled section control,” says Simon Bækgaard Christensen.

Robust Boom Performance and Easy Handling

One of the standout features for Simon is the hydraulic boom control:

“The hydraulic boom control works very effectively. The boom moves smoothly and steadily over the crop and maintains a completely uniform height above the crop across the entire working width – even on uneven terrain, as the wings can be tilted up and down independently of each other.”

Durability is also a highlight:

“The boom is really strong. We have now sprayed more than 40,000 hectares with the sprayer without any cracks or damage to the boom.”

Simon emphasizes the user-friendliness of the Kverneland iXtrack T6:

“The controls for the sprayer in the terminal inside the tractor are logically arranged, and the same applies to the controls for the sprayer's filling equipment. We also have a Kverneland fertiliser spreader with the same control layout, so it's really easy.”

Simple, Clear Design for Daily Work

“The sprayer itself has a simple and clear design. This means, for example, that it is easy to change hoses, as they are not hidden and are therefore easy to access. Daily servicing of the sprayer is easy and straightforward and can be done in a few minutes.”

“Even though it is a large sprayer, it can easily be pulled by a 150 hp tractor in grain. However, in the potatoes we use a 250 hp tractor at the end of the season when the tracks have become deep.”

The boom circulation system and automatic washing programme also deliver clear advantages:

“The sprayer's boom circulation ensures that the liquid in the boom is always properly mixed, which ensures correct spraying from the start. And then there is the complete washing programme, which has proven to be very effective. The washing programme has prevented the formation of limescale and chemical residues, which is why we have never experienced any spray damage. You just press a button, and after 10 minutes the sprayer is completely clean.”

Choosing Kverneland Again

Simon’s new Kverneland iXtrack T6 features the same tank size and boom width as his previous sprayer but adds advanced technology:

  • iXflow Pulse pulsating nozzles – consistent pressure, droplet size, and dosage, even when turning corners

  • 1,500-litre front tank with its own ISOBUS control and separate nozzle line

  • Option for a camera solution for real-time weed recognition and spot spraying

“The new sprayer also comes with a 1,500-litre front tank with its own Iso-Bus control and a separate nozzle line, so the sprayer has two completely separate nozzle lines. With two separate nozzle lines, we can save time by spot spraying weeds in the same operation as fungicide spraying. I am also considering having the new sprayer equipped with a camera solution from Kverneland mounted on the boom for weed recognition, so that we can spot spray in real time.”

After testing demo sprayers from other brands, Simon chose to stay with Kverneland:

“We tried out demo sprayers from other brands before I decided that it should be a Kverneland again. The fact that it was a Kverneland sprayer again is also because they have fully backed us up in terms of service and warranties.”
