Previously, the Kultistrip lineup featured three roller types:
- Farmflex rubber roller
- Pair of V-Press star rollers arranged in a V-formation
- A straight cage roller with a working width of 20cm
Introducing Two New Cage Rollers
Weather conditions have become more and more extreme with rainfall becoming less frequent but more intense. These heavy rains, especially in spring and autumn, can have a significant impact on young crops.
Conventional flat cage rollers leave a levelled, crumbled soil surface. After heavy rainfall, this can lead to water accumulation at the base of the plant, potentially dislodging seedlings or causing excess moisture stress.
To counteract this, Kverneland has developed two innovative hollow cage rollers.
“For the development of the new hollow cage rollers, we have studied in detail the highly advanced Strip-till technology coming from North America, where farmers have been faced with extreme weather conditions for many years”, Maxime Georges, Product Manager explains. “Instead of leaving a flat surface, Kverneland’s new hollow cage rollers form a small ridge where the seed is sown. This subtle elevation of extra soil prevents water from pooling at the plant base, helping to maintain plant stability and health.”
Additionally, the ridged surface improves soil warming around the seed zone, promoting faster germination and early growth. These new rollers are 35cm wide, compared to the standard 20cm, and each offers a different level of contouring based on the depth of their hollow design.
Enhanced Ground Pressure System
In conjunction with the new roller designs, Kverneland engineers have also upgraded the ground pressure system. The increased width and weight of the new rollers requires a more robust system, which has now been implemented across the entire range of five rollers, ensuring optimal performance and durability.
With these enhancements, Kverneland continues to support farmers with smarter, more adaptive Strip-till solutions designed for evolving agricultural needs and climate conditions.
