A Farm Built on Kverneland Reliability

Johan, a dedicated organic farmer from South Central Sweden, runs a 1,300-hectare farm with his son Oscar. Located just north of Gothenburg, the farm supports 350 suckler cows and a total of 1,200 cattle. With such an extensive operation, Johan relies heavily on his range of Kverneland machinery to manage his fields and livestock.

Johan and his son Oscar were also a part of Kverneland FastBale Premium Non-Stop Baler achieving the world record for the most bales baled within 24 hours.

Johan’s relationship with Kverneland started early in his farming career. "I grew up with Kverneland ploughs from Norway," he recalls, highlighting how Kverneland implements have played a foundational role in the farm’s operations. Over time, he’s added more Kverneland implements. "We ended up with Kverneland because it’s a good brand, and they have very good support in Sweden with skilled people who help us if complications should arise," Johan says.

When it comes to cutting grass, Johan appreciates the Kverneland 53100 Butterfly Mower Conditioner. "It’s a big machine, and it helps us cover more ground in less time," he says, adding that this efficiency is crucial, given the short harvest windows they often face in Sweden’s unpredictable climate. "We sometimes have very wet conditions, and it’s very difficult to make a bale. You can’t do it with anything else than a fixed chamber, and there I think the Kverneland FastBale fixed chamber non-stop baler works really good when it’s rainy and really wet." Johan says.

In the fields, the Kverneland implements continue to prove its worth. Johan has found particular value in Kverneland's Dry Crop Mergers, which helps streamline his harvesting process. "We use the merger to gather up the grass into bigger rows. It saves us time when it comes to baling," Johan explains, noting how it’s essential for managing the large volumes of grass needed to feed his herd during the winter.

Adapting to Organic Farming Challenges

Managing an organic farm presents unique challenges, especially when it comes to baling wet crops like clover. "We sometimes have very wet conditions, and it’s difficult to make bales with anything other than a fixed chamber baler, especially with clover" Johan explains. The flexibility of the Kverneland system solutions on his farm enables him to handle these diverse conditions effectively.

For Johan, the reliability and adaptability of Kverneland machinery are crucial to the success of his farm. "It’s only Kverneland on our farm these days, and we’re very happy with that," he notes. The combination of robust machines and strong local support has made Kverneland the backbone of Johan’s operations, helping him meet the demands of organic farming with ease.

Johan’s experience highlights the importance of having dependable machinery that can handle the complexities of running a large farm.
